Electrophoresis, a tool used to separate, visualize, and analyze DNA, proteins, and other gene products, is a way to explore life’s processes. This system provides everything necessary for students to learn to perform basic gel separations in less than 45 minutes, using specially prepared dyes and safe battery-operated equipment. The kit requires no staining; instead the brilliantly colored electrophoretic dyes separate as they migrate down the gel, highlighting the separations. You will receive enough materials to perform up to eight separations, a gel chamber, casting tray, six-well comb, prepared agarose, running buffer, six electrophoretic dyes, micropipets, microcentrifuge tubes, and an instructional DVD on electrophoresis, as well as a teacher’s guide and student copymaster. Five alkaline or rechargeable 9 V batteries, required, are available separately.
